Who are we?

We are Team Hayate, a STEM Racing Team from Tokyo, Japan, competing at the Japan National Finals with the goal of becoming the 2026 STEM Racing World Champions.

What is STEM Racing?

Fusion Force competing at the STEM Racing World Finals

STEM Racing is an international educational competition where students design, manufacture, and race miniature Formula 1 cars powered by compressed air. Originally known as F1 in Schools, the competition began in 1999 and has reached over 2 million students worldwide.

The competition progresses from regional qualifiers to national finals, culminating in the World Finals, where the best teams from around the globe compete to be crowned as STEM Racing World Champions.

Each team, composed of 3 - 6 students, uses professional CAD and CFD software to design their car. The designs are then brought to life using CNC machines and 3D printers, with students applying principles of aerodynamics and physics to optimize performance.

Through repeated design, testing, and refinement, students develop cars capable of completing a 20m drag race in 1 second. In addition to speed, teams are also evaluated on their collaboration with businesses, communication skills, presentation abilities, and team management. In essence, STEM Racing Teams operates just like a real Formula 1 Team.

With this program, students gain not only advanced technical and engineering skills but also develop into innovators and leaders equipped with critical problem-solving and teamwork abilities, skills essential for success in the real world.
